ARTIST STATEMENT
My recent work has been focused on domestic narrative. I believe that
the photograph can reveal things that the human eyes alone cannot sense,
like the way we feel in situations but sometimes cannot recognize in the
moment. I wanted to create simplistic scenes to tell a story, with only
hints of something deeper. I began the series as a study of myself, but
it has developed into more of an ambiguous character that is still very
much a part of my experiences and me. There are stories all around me;
I just have to be willing to tell them. As Emmett Gowin once said, “I
was wandering around the world looking for an interesting place to be,
when I realized where I already was, was interesting.” That is what
has driven my art.
