80% of the worlds forests are already gone. Audio Tree is trying to change that by planting a tree for every product sold. “Play One! Plant One!”

My Audio Tree PortraitAudio Tree founder Daniel Knoll creates handmade wood products for smartphones and tablets, most notably the signature Iphone acoustic amplifier/docking station. He has over 15 years of woodworking and sound engineering experience which led to the development of Audio Tree LLC.

My Audio Tree Product1These speakers have been tested in a professional recording studio and proven to double the sound of your phone’s speaker using “passive amplification” meaning there are no electronics involved. Some have been designed to allow you to charge your phone by running your own charger through the speaker.

Hand selecting exotic woods, and tone-woods, carefully monitoring the moisture content and density are just some of the examples of the attention to detail that is put into every piece.  Daniel uses age-old woodworking techniques along with modern day trade secrets. He has even had to have custom made tools in order to create some of his designs.

My Audio Tree Product2For the first time Audio Tree will be at the Art Star Craft Bazaar early next month! Stop by the booth (#13)  to see these pieces in person and find out more about Audio Tree and “Play One! Plant One!” You can also visit www.myaudiotree.com if you just can’t wait to see more!

  • NEW! Nugget Planters by Nikkuu Designs

Even though we are supposed to get snow later today (ugh), it actually is spring!  We just got in these awesome new handmade wood planters by local Philly artist Melissa Moore of Nikkuu Design.  Cut from a variety of woods (oak, pine, walnut), these planters are the perfect size for air plants or succulents.  If you are like me and can’t keep plants alive, these will be perfect for you!  If you kill these, you really aren’t meant to own plants! Comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.  Some are painted with splashes of bright white or aqua paint for a pop of color, while others just show off the wood grain.  Grab a couple for your window ledge to try to evoke some warmer weather! $12-$38, each comes with an air plant.

  • Spotlight on Rachel Fuld

Local artist Rachel Fuld contributed beautiful handmade Mahogany Wall Hooks to our current exhibition, Farmhaus & Friends.  She was kind enough to tell us more about them and share her inspiration and photos of her process.  Enjoy!

Rachel Fuld’s Wall Hooks in Farmhaus & Friends

Rachel says: Ossements were designed for a show, “Your Personal Hang Ups”, at the Center for Art in Wood on 3rd Street. The artists were asked by curator Gail Brown to “explore inventive forms inspired by their individual interpretation of “personal hang ups”- both as functional and conceptual ideas”. I took the functional route and created this series of hand shaped wall hung hooks that resembled antlers, though the actual form was inspired by another artist’s metal sculpture. For months the sculpture hung in a window of a gallery near my house. I walked by every day. It was a metal armature of differently sized Y shaped hooks attached to a grid maybe 3feet by 5 feet, very dense, like a forest. On each arm was a piece of cut wood. Somehow, I simplified the idea, into the single y shaped ossement.

Here are some photos to show how they are made:

Check out the pieces in person in Farmhaus & Friends, which closes this Sunday or online here.

  • Farmhaus + Friends Opens this Saturday!!

The installation for our upcoming Farmhaus + Friends exhibition is in the works and we couldn’t be happier with how it is turning out.  There is so much detail to each piece in the show, so I thought I’d take some quick shots of my favorite details so far.  Come out to experience Ben McBrien’s “Urban Beach Loft” in its entirety this Saturday from 5-8 and meet all the talented artist “friends” who contributed work to this fantastic show!

And let us know if you can make it to the opening via our Facebook Invite!
